Frequently asked questions
At The Lake District Furniture Company, we believe that the best furniture starts with the highest quality raw materials. To ensure every piece is built to last, we exclusively use European Whitewood.
To guarantee the strength and longevity of our designs, all of our timber is structural graded to C16 or C24 standards. This means your furniture isn't just beautiful—it's engineered for stability.
We take pride in our commitment to the environment and our local heritage. We source our timber from two primary streams:
New FSC-Approved Sources: Ensuring responsible forest management and sustainability.
Reclaimed Sources: Rescued timber salvaged from throughout the Lake District, giving a second life to wood with unique local character.
The short answer is: yes, for most items! We love getting our furniture to customers across the north and the isles, but there are some logistical hurdles we have to navigate.
While we regularly ship smaller items to these regions, the "Highlands and Islands" present unique challenges for larger pieces. Due to constantly varying courier availability and strict maximum size and weight constraints, there may be occasions where we are unable to fulfill particularly heavy or bulky orders for these specific postcodes.
In the event that we cannot safely or affordably deliver your order:
Prompt Communication: We will contact you as soon as possible to explain the situation.
Fast Refunds: If we have to cancel the order, we will issue a full refund within 48 hours.
We always recommend reaching out to us before purchasing a large item if you live in one of the areas listed below so we can check the latest courier capacity for you.
Affected Postcode Areas
The following regions are generally classified by our couriers as the Scottish Highlands and Islands:
Highlands: IV (all), KW1-14, PA21-38, PH4-41, PH49-50
Islands: HS (all), ZE (all), KW15-17, KA27-28, PA20, PA41-80, PH42-44
Other Remote Areas: AB31-38, AB40-56, FK17-21
To ensure your home is ready for the festive season, we recommend planning ahead!
Guaranteed Pre-Christmas Delivery: The last date to place an order for guaranteed delivery before Christmas is 5th December each year.
The "Likely" Window: Orders received between the 6th and 10th of December are very likely to be handcrafted and delivered on time, though we cannot strictly guarantee it during this peak period.
Any orders placed after the 10th of December will still be processed with care, but delivery will most likely take place in the New Year. We always aim to get our furniture into your homes as quickly as possible, but we appreciate your patience as our small team works hard to meet holiday demand.
